Yes, I have been missing in action. It has been an eventful summer in many ways.
My daughter studied abroad at Oxford, near London England. She managed to find time to see some sights including visiting the main studio where the Harry Potter movies were filmed.
My little theatrical gal was dragging us to several "dinners and shows" all over the state.
Then, there was a birthday celebration with homemade pizza and chocolate-dipped strawberries for these two nuts, who were born three days apart.
It was an AMAZING blueberry harvest! I froze 25 gallons, and that was after my sisters were here, picking like crazy! Some of those berries were as big as GRAPES! We had a lot of rain and they just seemed to plump overnight.
My oldest brother was in a serious motorcycle accident, hitting a pick-up truck head on...surgery, and now a rehab hospital in southeast Alabama with multiple injuries. It will be a long recovery for a 65 year old man. I was hoping this would discourage him from "all his toys," but that sounds unrealistic.
My "Contentment" quilt is in Grand Rapids, Michigan at the AQS show. If anyone is going tomorrow, please take a picture of it for me! I was so hoping to go, but I am needed here right now. It will go to the first ever Fall Paducah show next. I just discovered that I am 231 miles from Paducah.
I have been doing a lot of work FINALLY getting my quilt room the way I want it...I will show pictures next time. I have also managed to unpack the last of our boxes, pack up more of my parents' stuff, and put it in an out-building until my sisters can go through the boxes..
The chaos makes me crazy and now I can finally see the end of the tunnel from this move!
I had an intense bout of bronchitis/coughing...so unfair for that to happen during the summer.
And finally, I initiated some therapy and a mood elevating medication early in the year to deal with grieving and other issues. It has been helpful, but hard. Lots of reading, lots of writing, lots of setting boundaries, and lots of meditation.
Oh, and through a sleep study, I realized that I was nearly dying every night through episodes of not breathing and discovered how little sleep I've been getting...for a long time! I LOVE my CPAP machine. Now Steve and I have "his and hers" competing machines and lots of great white noise in the bedroom...when we go to sleep we look like two aliens.
We'll help Riley get moved back into college this weekend, then I am going to lock myself in the quilt cave...yes, there is a lock on the inside of that door, much to my delight!
In stitches,
Teresa :o)
Teresa, enjoy your CPAP. Your comment gave me a smile. The first night my DH slept with his, our sweet kitty kept waking him up, trying to chew on it. We finally figured out the kitty thought it should not be on his face, and was trying to get it off !
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your brother's accident--saying a prayer that he will be ok
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are getting sleep--and finally able to get back into your quilt room...
hugs, Julierose
The blueberries are absolutely wonderful. I had no idea they turned such a lovely purple shade before ripening. My 2nd son was in a motorcycle accident where he ran into the back of a pickup. He broke his femur, broke his jaw needing metal plates, and crushed his larynx. But, he was 18 not 65. Best of healing to your brother. Glad you were able to get some organizing done. I'm living in clutter because son and DIL are living with us. Makes me kind of anxious. It will nice to not be living on top of myself come Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteI might go this fall not sure yet - but I hope to. Glad to see you back and hope you are feeling better - medication for grief/depression can be hard to adjust to but at the same time makes you feel much better. That is a lot of blueberries
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking about you today and thought funny we hadn't heard from you in so long. Glad things are improving. Sorry to hear about your brother. Hope his recovery is swift. Take time and breath deep and things will work out. Chris
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you checked in with all of us who love to see what you are doing. I hope you get to go to the Paducah show.
ReplyDeleteWow so much going on there! Hope you are feeling much better, and that I will be soon too! Life can be hard!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear from you.... the blueberries look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteHave truly missed your posts. Glad you're finding some peace. I look forward to seeing "Contentment" in Paducah.
ReplyDeleteGreat update, you have been missed. Glad you are able to rest well now.
ReplyDeleteWow, weird I was going to write you this evening to make sure you were ok.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back. I hope your brother has a full recovery. Happy zzzzzzzzzzzzs.
Oh I am sorry I was at GR yesterday, but I thought I was in the no photograph area, but I was excited to see your quilt in person. Will keep you, and your family in my prayers. Grieving is exhausting it is so hard to wade through.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back to the blogiverse, your blog is very welcome to me. You sure have a lot of news! I am sorry you have had downs as well as ups but now I am certain that you are entering a phase of increased health and creativity. Way to go!
ReplyDeleteTeresa, I look for a post from you everyday. Sorry to hear of the not so good news. God only gives us what we CAN handle. Your CPAP story is all too common. My son was dying every night too and now is well rested. Hugs and continue to feel better.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear from you. Glad everything is on an upward swing now
ReplyDeleteWow, what a topsy turvy life you've been living. So much trauma and drama to deal with. Solving the sleep issue should be a big turning point. Prayers for your brother and good wishes for "Contentment".

Sending warm thoughts and best wishes for you and your family. Hope life calms down for you now. Hubby has had a CPAP since 1995; he was stopping breathing over 100 times in an hour so they sent him home from the sleep test with a machine. It has made a tremendous difference and will help you so much. Lack of deep sleep does many strange things to us. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteRelieved to see you back. I was a little worried. I love your work and would so love to see that Contentment quilt. I love my CPAP also.
ReplyDeleteJust yesterday, I was wondering why you had not posted in such a long time. Looking forward to your quilt room pictures.
ReplyDeleteCourage Teresa, you will see how life will improve with CPAP. My DH got one last year and results are spectacular. But it took at least 6 months to see them. Happy for you and I'm looking forward to read your posts !
ReplyDeleteBest greetings from a cloudy Paris, France
Oh my goodness Teresa! I am so happy to hear that you are on the road to better health with your machine, your therapy and your medication help. My husband went through almost exactly the same thing and he has now been able to stop the medication since he gets the required amount of sleep. I wish you every success with it! I'm so sorry to hear about your brother. You have had so much to deal with over the past few years. I will keep my fingers crossed for you at Grand Rapids, but my guess is that you will win Viewer's Choice again. You wholeheartedly deserve it! It's a winner in my book! Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteA very newsy post indeed. A great opportunity for Riley. Hope brother heals soon. You just may start feeling better as you will be getting quality sleep.I also missed Gr Rapids Show due to illness and did not see my quilt on display either. Otherwise, I would have photographed your quilt. Bummer. I have plans to go on a chartered bus to Fall Paducah. Enjoy your time in the quilt cave.
