Above is my family room BEFORE I had to destroy it to take a quilt photo...
The chaos below is after moving EVERYTHING in the room to expose the only wall in my house where I could take a picture of a 96 x 96 inch quilt...
The sofa is standing on end...lamps, chairs, end tables, and stuff is piled everywhere...Weasley the cat was COMPLETELY mental during all the chaos...
Oh well...we did the best we could...it was an afternoon of "marital enrichment," if you know what I mean...

Now I have the pictures needed to enter it in some upcoming shows.
The quilt police suggest taking pictures outside, but it is still too snowy, cold, dirty, windy, and disagreeable out there. It was a rare sunny day, so we went for it inside. Thank goodness for the ability to crop pictures, LOL!

I am in the same boat, I just don't have an empty wall anywhere that I can take good pictures, and I also don't have a large space for basting ... maybe I need to do some de-cluttering!

Wow. I agree "Marital Enrichment" is a good phrase. I will have to remember that. It looks great. Maybe the 'quilt police' should have to come over and do the photography to see how hard it is.

ReplyDeleteLOL - where there is a will there is a way!! I love seeing that I am not the only one that has a small home where there are few walls to accommodate a large quilt. It is beautiful and good luck in the shows. As you designed it and hand quilted it surely you should get something - you did a spectacular job.

Not only is Baltimore Rhapsody amazingly beautiful, but how you achieved a perfect photo is an amazing feat courtesy of a cardboard box, a martial enrichment afternoon and a displaced Weasley.

Chaos but 'ya gotta do what 'ya gotta do to make those quilt show entries! When (not if !) this quilt wins a show award (hopefully monetary in addition to the oodles of ribbons you'll be getting), it's time to invest in one of those telescoping quilt stands. Since you've had already had a couple of winning show entries and now have a pattern business, it's officially a necessary business expense (and therefore hopefully a tax write-off). No more upending the couch and you can also set it up outdoors.

ReplyDeleteI love the phrase marital enrichment! We went through ten months of marital enrichment while building our home 22 years ago. Really building, as in donning a tool belts through rain, snow and 100 degree days! Funny thing is, most disagreements were caused by translation error from he-speak to she-speak. Saying the same thing in a different way!
Anyway, please keep us posted on show entries!

Reminds me of the stories of the quilters moving everything out to put a frame in a room, so everyone could help quilt. You are going to win some quilt shows with this stunner.
