I LOVE "Downton Abbey," and I always order the current season on DVD as soon as it is available so I don't have to wait to see the rest of the season.
Well, I ordered 2 copies so I would have one to give away to my blog readers. Leave a comment and tell us what YOU would think would make a fake/funny/serious season cliffhanger. Be creative, and do it by midnight Sunday night, EST. I will post the winner Monday morning.
We are having yet another winter storm today, but it is warmer this time, right around the freezing mark. When I was out shoveling, I heard something I had not heard this whole frozen winter...bird song!
The birds have come out from where they are surviving the cold, so I put out a dish of birdseed. The birds have been excitedly visiting and eating until...
...dunh, dunh, DUNHHH (dramatic music inserted here)...
...I guess they see Mr. Weasley through the glass. Little do the birds know, he can't get to them and he is a BIG CHICKEN. He wouldn't know what to do with a bird (except maybe wet himself...).
Still quilting...sigh.

I love Downton Abbey too! I bought the first two seasons but this year I record it from PBS on Sunday nights and watch it on Monday mornings. It would be too costly for you to mail it if I won, so please don't put my name in the draw, but how generous of you! My cliffhanger idea would have to be with Mr. Bates...without giving anything away, maybe he would meet up with a certain gentleman at the end of the season to make things right...I think he and Anna are adorable!

Tom and Mary have an unexpected romantic moment which leaves Mary expecting and Mr. Bates hires a hit man to get rid of that nasty Mr. Green!
Well, I can't really say what would most likely happen as a cliff hanger because I have never seen Downton Abby past a few episodes in the first season! I can't seem to catch it when it's on, nor can I find it on the schedule to record...so I will wait until it's on Netflix again. I always think a good cliff hanger is when someone dies and you are left hanging, wondering who done it! LOL. Will that fit in this instance?

ReplyDeleteI love Downton and watch it faithfully every week. I think a great ender would be if someone found Mr. Carson and Mrs. Hughes in a "compromising situation"! I would love them to get together :)
ReplyDeleteI think that Edith is expecting and her boyfriend will be delayed in Germany. As for Mr. Bates, I fear he will seek revenge and end up in jail again. I do hope Mary finds love again and realizes she can be happy. The cliffhanger? Possible loss of the Abbey. Taxes I think.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see Mrs. Crawley and the Doctor get married. She needs some happiness for herself! And I'm thinking the cliffhanger might be that Edith will head to America to spend a few crucial months with her granny! Hmmmmm! lol

ReplyDeleteI just started watching this season and I got hooked. I hope I get these characters right. I would like to see Tom and I think Mary (Mathews widow), the one he is working with on the estate, get together. The costumes are just beautiful and so is the scenery. Would love to win the giveaway and thank you for having it.
ReplyDeleteTom and Edith travel together to America. He to start over and she to help with her niece and have her child there to avoid scandal. Mary regrets her decision turning down Lord Gillingham (a bit of dejavu) and a similar situation arises like the one she had with Matthew in the beginning. The Dr. Courts Mrs. Crawley and Daisey and Alfred run the kitchens because Patmore becomes Ill. I'd love to win, but I can hold out and watch as it airs. Love al the masterpiece series.
ReplyDeleteI think it's time everyone discovered that Thomas is a schemer. Also in trying to get himself out of the jam, he lets the cat out of the bag on O'Brien and the soap, so that pulls O'Brien off the pedestal. I don't doubt we are about to find out that dear Edith has a growing problem….

What a generous give-away. I like the suspense each week, so I do not have to be added to the random drawing. Your occasional posts about Downton Abbey got me started watching it and I consider that a give-away.
ReplyDeleteI predict that Bates' wife is pregnant because of "the incident", that Tom and Mary go to America and Mary comes back with a cowboy, that sad Edith will again either be rejected or he will die in India and she signed something that might make her liable for his business dealings that might be bad. Okay, that's all I've got...oh that Matthew's mom marries the doctor....

I'm a DA fan too. I'd like the wicked Thomas to get caught and revealed to his conniving character. Also, I think Mr. Green will be found out, but I hope that Bates can get the job done and remain a free man. I don't see Mary getting together with Tom, but hope that both of them get some happiness before the season is over. Thanks for such a great giveaway. I had to get the first 3 seasons from the library to watch them all and be ready for season 4 (after hearing everyone talking about the show). I'm hooked as they say.

We had tea, scones, wore pearls and fancy clothes, and I dressed as a Lady's maid, complete with doilies on my head. It was a hoot. The ridiculous cliffhanger/ending is that Rose is pregnant by the black nightclub singer and has to go live with Cora's mother in America, Thomas Barrows and Ivey have an affair. Edith has a baby but gives it up for adoption to Anna and Bates because Anna can't get pregnant since she was raped. Lady Grantham (Cora) has an affair but who with? And Lord Grantham remains stupid.

My ridiculous ending is that Rose is pregnant by the black nightclub singer and has to go live with Cora's mother in America, Ivy doesn't like Jimmy because she's secretly in love with Thomas Barrows, Edith has a baby but gives it up for adoption to Anna and Bates because Anna can't get pregnant due to problems from the rape, and the cliffhanger is that Cora is seen in bed with another man, we can't see his face, but we do see Lord Grantham in his brocade robe walking down the hallway, just as oblivious as ever about the things going on all around him.

I think a good cliff hanger would be the family finding out about Edith's baby! Ugh, so dumb to keep it secret!! :)

ReplyDeleteI hate to say it, but I am addicted to Downton Abbey. I think a great cliffhanger would be for Tom (Branson) to have a horrific accident while out supervising the property. We would all have to wait for the next season and see if he would be okay.
