A Halloween give away...

Happy hump day (hump of the week, that is)!  It is 2 weeks until Halloween, and to celebrate now having 500 followers (thank you, all of you!!), we are having a Halloween give away!

Madame Swamphopper, the frog-loving witch pictured above, is holding some Halloween fat quarters hostage on her lap.  I will wrestle them away from her and reward them at 8:00 AM Thursday (tomorrow morning).

Just leave a comment before then on my blog, and let me know, on average, how many quilt blogs you read a day, or a week.  I am way behind on my daily reading lately...

What's your favorite thing to find when you are cruising the blogs...projects in motion, tutorials, opinions, quilt along's, recipes, how people decorate with quilts, stash organization, gifts and ornaments to make, projects involving scraps, stash-busting projects?

So, good luck on winning the give away!!

(thanks again for the lovely witch, Ola...every year I take her out, she makes me smile...)

In stitches,
Teresa  :o)

  1. Love the witchie-poo - what a great decor! I follow about 100 bloggers and I like the mix of self, projects, life that they all throw into their blogs (and try to comment faithfully). I have most of the fabric companies bookmarked and check on their 'new lines', projects, and challenges. My computer is right near where I sew, so when I need a break from the machine - that's when I turn to the computer - or go out for a walk - oh, yeah, get a little housework done.

  3. I read between 20 and 35 blogs a day (depending how frequently the blogger posts) - am a self-confessed compulsive reader! My favourite thing to find after humour, is ideas for using my now-tamed scraps (a la Bonnie Hunter). I wish I could say I've busted my stash, but alas, no! (I know DH doesn't read my blog, but I don't dare write about the stash additions, just in case!)

  4. I usually read any postings from my followers in the morning and then in the evening I look at the blogs people follow. Maybe 20-30/day...I like to see projects in process and love tutorials (I put them all in my faves to refer to when needed). Cute Witch-a-rina and neat fabrics....Julierose

  5. I am guessing I read about 20 blogs a day. I love seeing works in progress for inspiration, hearing about new patterns and fabrics and seeing how people use quilts in their homes. I have also used tutorials and just enjoy getting to "know" people through their blogs. Plus it makes me happy to know that I am not alone in this crazy addiction!

  6. I probably read close to 25 blogs a day and I love posts about studio organization and vintage machines. This is a really neat giveaway. Congratulations on hitting the 500 follower milestone!

  7. My blog reading varies from day to day --- depends on how often some people blog. I enjoy all the things you mentioned and sometimes will travel to another blog, because of something someone else refers to. Love that witch!

  8. I read 15 or so quilting blogs routinely, and I read them for everything you listed, except recipies. You bloggers keep me motivated, inspired and impressed!

  9. I probably average at least 20 blogs or more. Great for all kinds if ideas.

  10. I have over 100 blogs on my reader list. They don't all post everyday, so not sure how many posts I actually read every week. I enjoy seeing what everyone else is working on and love to find new ideas for me to work on. Tutorials are always nice but great photos of a project already made are just as good.

  11. I love to find tutorials on HOW to do things with quilting. I am a newer quilter, and learning HOW to do things with pictures that are clear step by step really help. Sometimes we think we know how to do it, but a new step will really bring something to light. That sewing machine can be something to wrestle sometimes and a new way can be an eye opener.

I have no idea how many blogs are on my list but I might read 20-30 depending on who posts for the day.
I really enjoy everything you mentioned. The quilt alongs is one of my favorites or free bom. I do love to see how others decorate with quilts too.
thanks for the chance to win some fun fabrics.

  14. hi
congratulations on 500 followers. I'm not sure how many I read, it varies according to time.
I look for inspiration first and foremost.

  15. I have no clue how many blogs I read on any given day. Sometimes just a few, other times I can spend a couple hours reading. I'm always finding new to me blogs! Like just now, I found a couple in your comments that I don't think I've read before and they are already opened in a new tab. :)
Congrats on 500 followers. Proud to be one of them.

  16. I have about 60 blogs on my Blogspot reading list, but I usually just read the 3 to 5 most interesting entries every day. Some days I don't even manage to open Blogspot. Don't mention my blogging backlog or my (n)ongoing projects.
I find your stash organisation most helpful, it has inspired my a lot to get and keep my things in order.
For pattern inspiration I read Bonnie Hunter's Quiltville, Oh Fransson by Elizabeth Hartman, Happy Quilting Melissa by Melissa Correy, just to name the most important ones.
Thanks for offering this giveaway and good luck to all who post for it!

  17. I follow about 200 blogs (yikes!), so on average there are about 20-30 to read each day. But I seem to check the blog list every time I go and get a cup of coffee or water, so it never takes me that long to go through them. I'm always on the lookout for scrappy quilts, and antique quilts. Those are where I get the most inspiration for creating something new. I also love to see quilts from guild shows, and I love the recipes people leave, as well. Oh, and tutorials! Yeah! I guess I pretty much love everything about the blogs I follow! Thanks for the chance at the giveaway! Woohoo!

  18. Hi. I love the witch, too! I read about ten blogs daily, and love finding tutorials most of all.
    Thanks for the fabulous giveaway!

  19. Not sure how many blogs I follow or how many I read each day--it depends on how many post each day. Perhaps 20-25 a day? I also follow links to other blogs - so no telling how many exactly. I just know I can go down too many rabbit trails! :)

I like anything scrappy, antique, vintage, inspiring, quilts from shows, good tutorials, every day life stories and really good recipes that are easy to fix. I also love hearing people's history and seeing pictures from their past and their ancestors.

Congratulations on 500 followers! I enjoy your blog because of your wonderful tutorials on applique, your fabulous ideas on storage and the ideas for using scraps. Thanks for the opportunity to win the cute fabric.

  20. Hi,

I NEED to read at least 6 blogs a day. More if I can find the time.
And I love everything - but especially tutorials. It's fun to have a peek into other quilters lives.

  21. I don't focus just on quilting blogs. I look for blogs that "speak" to me, no matter the subject. That being said, there are about 5 or 6 blogs I read that include quilting in their content. Actually, I spend way too much time in the blogosphere!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Congratulations on your 500. Your blog is worth reading, you do awesome work. I read through my blogs in the morning to get inspired. It is different every day depending who is recently posting. They keep me motivated to get my own work done.

  25. Oh dear--I just counted how many are in just the quilting section of my reader, I had no idea I had so many--121!!! Thank goodness they don't all post every day. I love seeing other people's studios as I'm always on the lookout for better ways to organize which is what brought me to your blog.....I think you are the queen of organization. Now if I could only convince you to come organize my new sewing room next spring when the new house is completed......

  26. I probably read about 20 blogs a day (sometimes more!). I get inspired by so many things I see, from new blocks to projects to organization. Your quilt cave was one of the first I had seen, and my fabric is now organized by colour in plastic shoeboxes thanks to you. Congratulations on reaching 500!

  29. I'm reading about 5-10 blogs a day, sometimes less, sometimes more, because you can easy jump from one and another. I just started blogging this summer, in fact to make an inventory of all the quilts I made for some 15 years, in fact quite a lot....
When reading blogs, I like to see quilts, colour, tutorials...stash organisation It gives me so much inspiration and I have not much time to quilt with a full time jobs and 4 kids. I like to read the story about quilts. (I really enjoyed you husbands' underwear quilt! Did he liked it ?)

  31. I read about 10 a day. I follow you from quiltsalott - that's my starting point for most of my follows. I don't usually comment because I read from an iPad and it doesn't like blogspot's profile selection. I LOVE your music applique quilt! You are an inspiration to me!

  32. Congrats on the 500 followers. I have about 20-22 blogs that I follow daily. What I like most is seeing new ideas and new ways to work quilt patterns. The quilt alongs are fun and tutorials are very helpful.

  33. I started following blogs about a year ago, by typing in the name of a quilt that I wanted to see what it looked like. I came up on Stray Threads and have found so many ideas/tips/techniques/quilts and my favorite--applique--which is how I came to be on your blog!! I love Halloween, has been my favorite holiday since the birth of my 2 boys. When they went out trick-or-treating in costumes, it was so much fun. My boys could not believe that they got to keep the candy!! Thanks for the giveaway Judy

  36. You gave me something to think about - why blogs are so much fun to read. I think it must be scrappy quilt projects that delight me the most, but I do love to see how people decorate with their quilts. Halloween is my favorite holiday - these are great fabrics. Thanks for the giveaway!

  37. You made me look! There are 106 blogs on my blogger dashboard! It's easier to check who has posted every day. I also copy down any site from which I want to copy an idea, or pattern.. I love blog hops, and tuts and organization, and scrappy ideas. Your post is timely-I just spent a day getting reaquainted with my stash. ( organizing?) I have 5 great pieces of hallowe'en fabric. Need to look for more. Maybe Mde Swamphopper will put in a good word for me. She has great taste in fabric!
Congrats on your success. 500 and growing.

  40. Theresa - I really enjoy your blog. You amaze me with your skills, color sense, helpful postings. Besides yours, I read about 3 others but I love applique, so yours is always first so I can see if you added any more fabulousness. I like seeing step-by-step stuff, or explanation of why they chose the colors, etc. When you did the rose applique and showed the progression of colors, a bulb went on for me. Thanks for all the time you take to share!

I love quilt tutorials on blogs.
    Thanks for the giveaway!

  42. I counted the blogs listed on my dashboard, and I follow 121 blogs. I start every day with a cup of coffee, a crossword puzzle, a sudoku, and then I read the blog posts. After work, I revisit my dashboard and read the posts that have been made since the morning. I have no idea how many that is in a day. Not every blogger posts every day.

  43. Teresa, first off I have to say that your Baltimore Rhapsody quilt is absolutley gorgeous. I cannot believe that a person could conceive and create such a beautiful thing. Actually, I think that's one big reason I read quilt blogs - so see what amazing things these quilters are doing. But of all the amazing and wonderful things I see on the blogs, truly, this Baltimore quilt is unbelievable. Kudos to you!
Oh, I think I read 8-10 blogs a day, and like I said, it's mostly for inspiration.

  44. I am connected to about 100 blogs that I TRY to keep up with...LOL. there are about 30 that I read daily. I get on these kicks at times where I just start clicking through blogs on one of the blogs I am already connected to. That is alot of fun finding new blogs and new inspiration. Thanks for the chance to win!

  45. I am subscribed to 98 quilt blogs! Wow, didn't know it was that many. Of course, probably only a third of them write on any given day. Like Genevieve, I tend to click on links and find new blogs and add them to the list!! Thanks for the chance to win the Halloween fabric. Looks like it would be fun to work with.

  46. I subscribe to at least 150 blogs, but not all post everyday. Sometimes, one blog leads to another, and another I could spend 2 hours a day. When I've been gone it takes ages to catch up. I love reading yours. Have a great week.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I read maybe twenty blogs . . . not all every day, some quilting, gardening, canning, genealoby Like Mary above, one blog leads to another. I could spend all day reading blogs, if I let myself. My main interest varies . . . right now, I'm smitten with applique.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I probably have 100 blogs listed in my Google Reader, but the vast majority of them are inactive. Lately there's probably only 10 - 15 that I'm reading every post. Since the vast majority of my blog subscriptions are to quilting blogs it's like a virtual quilt show some days and class on others. Love the Halloween bundle. I just recently ended up with some Halloween fabric, so there's a Halloween quilt in future -- some day.

  49. I run through my blog feeds every day and sometimes twice a day. I love looking for new projects, finished quilts, organization ideas, and pretty fabrics really take my eye.
I love the witch! She's too cute! I hope she will let go of those fat quarters.....

  50. I have 15-20 blogs that I follow regularly. I used to follow more but I was giving up my sewing time by reading so many so I scaled back my blog list. I don't really look for anything specific on blogs, rather I continue with my favorites because they offer a variety of interests that are the same as mine. I follow your's because I love hand applique and I've learned a lot from your tutorials. Another favorite is one that deals a lot with wool applique which is another interest of mine. Another deals with scrap quilts. Each blogger offers bits and pieces of different things and the variety is what I like.
