It's my birthday...how about a give-away!

peeblespair: Photo

The above picture is what you hope you look like when you turn 54 years old...

The following is closer to the truth...

haha! why make two trips when you can make one?

It's my birthday and I still have 5 copies of the Quiltmaker 100 Blocks, No. 10...let's do a give away!  My apologies to those who already have a copy...

I will choose tomorrow (Friday) at noon by random number generator.  If you have a funny birthday story, joke, or phrase, please include if you have the time!

(Please no "no-reply" or "anonymous" comments and domestic mail only for the give-away...still eating canned beans from the last give-aways, LOL!!)

In stitches,
Teresa  :o)

  3. Happy birthday! Just though I would share our weird family tradition for 40th birthdays. You may have heard of the idea of covering someone's lawn with flamingos to mark an occasion. Well for my oldest sister's 40th birthday my Mom and I came up with the idea of decorating her house with bras. We both collected old bras from everyone we could think of until we had 40 and strung them on her house and on the trees like it was Christmas. We added a sign announcing her birthday and of course did this in the middle of the night so it would be a surprise. It ended up starting a bunch of 40th birthday pranks. My Mom is gone now, I sure miss her crazy zest for life!

  5. Happy Birthday! My cute story is the birthday I had when I had just completed a year as an officer in a quilt guild. I ended up having to take over as president. Come January, we had a ceremony to install new officers. I thought it was odd that not one person said a thing to thank me for serving as a fill in president. After the meeting was over, they surprised me with a birthday party and gifts. That was their way of thanking me. I had thought the gifts on the table were Secret Sister gifts and had no idea that they were all for me.

  29. Happy Birthday! When I turned 40, I was driving a school bus. My route was to the next small town and the countryside around there then back to our consolidated school. I left the bus barn at 6:10 AM when it was still dark out. My entire hour-long route, people kept honking and waving at me. I thought everyone was sure friendly that morning, until I pulled up to the high school to unload students. The principal came out to my bus and said,'Happy Birthday!" I was shocked and asked how he knew. He said, "Well , it could be the big sign the full length of your bus saying it's your 40th!" Another bus driver had decorated my bus before I got on it. Talk about embarrassing!

  30. Happy Birthday! I think my favorite birthday was my 40th when a friend gave me a whole pile of little presents that were "essential for the older person"...we all got such a laugh out of them as I opened them in the staff room. You can guess what some of them might be. It was all in good fun. Enjoy your day.

  35. Funny birthday story - almost 60 years ago I was so excited for my birthday coming up soon that I reminded everyone every day when my birthday was and what I wanted. On the morning of my birthday, my sister got up and did wonderful and special things for my birthday. That night when the extended family gathered my cousin asked my sister what we did for her birthday which was 5 days earlier. OOPS - the blabbermouthed toddler had stolen all the attention and no one had celebrated my sister's birthday.

There is always a lot to be thankful for, if you take the time to look. For example, I'm sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don't hurt. - author unknown.

  53. I'm a 5 years ahead of you. I'd tell you what it's like, but that would just scare you. And you can't do anything about it anyway!

    Here's the joke:
For our daughters 6th birthday we bought her a fish. We couldn’t help laughing when on the way she announced “the fish’s name is Sparingly.” “How do you know?” I asked “look” she responded “it says “feed sparingly 3 times daily.”

  60. I can only share my earliest memory of the morning after my 4th birthday, my mom had put m&m's in bowls and I remember getting up and eating all of them before anyone else woke up.

  61. Happy Birthday! When I was turning 4 I really wanted a cake shaped like a house (don't know why!). My mom found a recipe and made this fantastic cake, with coconut on the roof.....that's when I discovered that I can't stand coconut! I still remember sitting at the table picking at the cake, trying to pick out all the coconut and gagging at every bite! I think that was the end of the fancy cakes for me!!
