"All Around the Town" takes a prize at AQS Lancaster...

The verdict is in..."All Around the Town" takes a 3rd place ribbon in the "Wall Quilt: Hand Quilted" category at the AQS International Quilt Show in Lancaster, PA. Yee-haw!

The show opens this morning and the winners were supposed to be available by 8:40 AM online.  I have not located them yet.  I actually got a nice phone call late yesterday afternoon...that is the witching hour in our house for robo-calls and unknown people selling stuff and asking for money.

I did not recognize the phone number and ALMOST DIDN'T PICK UP!  I'm glad I did, because it was a courtesy call letting me know about my quilt taking a prize.  Andrea of AQS wanted to know if and when I was coming to the show to set up some sort of interview (???).  Then came the blood-curdling scream as I hung up...

I will be at the show on Friday...anyone else going on Friday??

To celebrate, let's have a give-away!  It's been way too long since  we did that.  I have two beautiful, brand-spanking-new Downtown Abbey T-shirts, both are red and size 2X (I thought they might shrink a little...).

3 rules:

1)  You have to be (or become) a follower of Fabric Therapy to participate.

2)  You have to tell us who your favorite Downton Abbey character is and why (if you have not watched Downton yet, just pick a good, British, uppercrusty name, and make up a reason you just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that person...).

3)   Your comment must be time and date-stamped BEFORE midnight EST Friday night, March 15.  I will post winners on Monday.

Have a great weekend and maybe I will bump into you at the Lancaster show...I will be the tall, large woman with a #@*&-eating grin on my face...

In stitches,
Teresa  :o)

  3. Teresa ~ congratulations! I saw your quilt in Grand Rapids and loved it! ~ OMG my favorite? I LOVE everyone on the show. I will have to pick Lord Grantham. He handles everything with ease AND I have been a follower for many years!

  4. Kudos to you on a 3rd place finish! Your quilt is absolutely gorgeous!! My favorite character on Downton Abbey is Anna, the head housemaid ~ quiet, calm, her relationship with John Bates is beautiful, and she stands up to those meanies on the show. :)

  5. I like Anna also - she is the perfect maid of that time period and has such a steely strength to her that you really admire her - Lord Grantham is second because he is having such a hard time dealing with change but gradually he is really trying harder.
Congrats so much on your win - yes I am a follower

  6. I am a follower; and definitely the Dowager is my very favorite...she is something else. Although she is of her time, I think in many ways, she is a forward thinker. Very practical and I just adore her expressions! Congrats on your win! That quilt would surely impress "La Dowager" immensely (LOL)--I know it does me...hugs Julierose

  7. Oh, cool!! Congratulations, Teresa. :D I would be ecstatic just to have a quilt jury in for display at Lancaster! I loved watching you make this one - it deserves to win! (I am overflowing with t-shirts, so I'm not entering the give-away - just wanted to leave you a big High Five!)

  8. I am a follower -- of you and Downton Abbey! Congratulations on your quilt winning the ribbon. It is so well deserved!
Now to Downton Abbey.... I love the spunk of the Dowager, I get a kick out of Carson, the calmness and strength of Mrs. Hughes. I liked Matthew ... but the one whom I admire is Anna, for all the reasons that others have posted.

  9. Congratulations! Lovely quilt, would like to see more close up shots of the quilt. Want the best for Anna & Bates. Love to hate the trouble maker Sarah O'Brian. Fun to watch Carson with his old English exterior slowing changing.

I love Mr Bates. He has such a heart. Proud, honorable, trustworthy, all come to mind when I think of him.

  11. How exciting news...congrats!

Bates is my favorite character. Carson and Mrs. Hughes run a close second.

And on a related topic...I'm still shocking by the death of Matthew. Was one death this season not enough?!

  15. Congrats on your very deserved recognition at the show! Sadly, I'm a bit too far west to attend in person :)

My favorite Downton character is Lady Mary... she's stuffy and argumentative, but has a heart of gold. I loved her and Matthew's relationship.

  16. I want to know just who had the temerity to bump you to third place?? I'd say first place, for sure. Congratulations for sure.

Okay, girlfriend, even though I read every day, I became a follower just so I could enter. I like Edith because she's always the odd girl out. She's not a bad person and has a good heart, but always seems to be put upon. And, Granny, who couldn't love Granny?!?!?!?

  17. Congratulations!! How exciting for you....your a total rock star!! Yes, I'm a follower....and the Dowager is the best character of all. Well....to be honest...ANY character that Maggie Smith plays is the best. Have fun!!

  21. Congrats to you. No surprise to anyone that follows you that this was a winner! You deserve to scream, so glad you were there for the call and you get to go to show. I can't wait till Baltimore Rhapsody is finished and it wins a ribbon and I can say " I followed that quilt"! You are very impressive and deserving of a ribbon. Come back home with photos.

  24. Gorgeous quilt! Congrats! I am a follower of your blog and obsessed with Downton! My favorite character
was Sybil (poor thing, I'm still reeling from that episode!) So I guess I would have to say my next favorite is her grandmother the Dowager. Her little remarks always make me laugh! :)

  26. Congratulations!! Your quilt truly deserves a prize! I am pretty sure I am a follower.

And I positively ADORE Downton Abbey, and I am in love with Violet, the Dowager, because of her pithy remarks. Her "Do you promise" to Richard Carlisle at the end of Season Two brought me off the couch cheering!

    Congrats again!

  27. Congratulations, this is such a cute quilt, so many surprises if you just take a closer look.

I love Downton Abbey and it is all because of you! You posted about it in January and I knew season 1 was on Netflix, I was hooked after the first show and caught up on Season 1 and 2 and then proceeded to season 3. My favorite charecter is Mary, I love her and Matthews love story and am still sad his charecter is off the show.

  28. Congratulations on your quilt !!!!!!!!!!!! Awesome award for your lovely work. Enjoy the show and I hope you overhear 100 wonderful "oohs & ahhs" about your quilt while strolling by.

For your contest: Mrs Isobel Crawley is my fav. character. I've only see a few shows in episode 1 and hope she is a character continuing on. I relate to her as a nurse and an advocate for the patients and others in the community! Crossing my fingers for a win!

Thanks Teresa for letting us celebrate with you and for your generous and fun prize give away!

    Happy Quilting

  33. I am not trying for two bites at the apple here...my iPad stopped letting me write on the 1st comment. But, I can't sign off without a Downton mention. I've watched all three seasons multiple times. It's my favorite hand piecing accompaniment. Anyway, the Dowager Season 2 is my favorite but not so much in season 3. In season 3 I love Mrs. Patmore

  34. I just finished watching season one of Downton Abbey, I have season 2 & 3 on hold at the library. I'm kind of late getting to it, I know. But it is sooooo good. My favorite character is whoever Maggie Smith plays (the grandmother, don't know her name). I'm big & I love red, so those shirts were made for me.

  35. Congratulations on your well deserved prize! It's a wonderful quilt!

I am a blog follower, and my favorite Downton character is the Dowager Countess for her cunning brilliant mind and sharp wit, but I also like Mrs. Hughes and Mrs. Patmore for their warmth and inner strength.

  36. My favorite Downton character is the Dowager Countess she is just oh so clever and sarcastic.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Congratulations! My favorite character is the Dowager Lady Grantham. She is a "hoot", so uppity and opinionated, but love her one-liners and facial expressions!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Congratulations! My favorite character from DA is Countess Cora - I don't know how she keeps her cool! and has such a calm nature and handles things so well - a lot of sweet and some grit, too.

  39. OMG that is such great news! WOW!
And what a great giveaway to celebrate!
My favorite is Carson, and I'm not just saying that because he's on the Tshirt! )I do love all the characters,
    EXCEPT for Thomas!)
I love how Carson is such a man of high principles, and how gentle and sweet he is with babies, and how much he is loyal to Lady Mary and always sees the best in her, even when she is....well, less than nice!

  40. Congratulations ! and such a lovely quilt - so much charm in the detail.
I am already a follower and I also love Downton Abbey. The Dowager is my favourite (being a Maggie Smith fan) - such a dry wit and such a strong character!

  41. Congratulations, Teresa! I saw the news about your win on my friend Sharon's blog and hopped over here to see the quilt - because I will be at the show Friday! I'll be cruising the exhibits and vendors in the morning, then taking a class in the afternoon. I'll hope to see you! I tried to follow your blog, but Google is giving me fits and won't let me - but my favorite character on Downton Abbey is, of course, Lady Violet - I want to be her when I grow up! She gets the best lines!!

Look for me, I'll be the tall one with a navy blue sweater, Cath Kiddston tote bag, and patient hubby in tow!!

  42. Congratulations Teresa! I'm at the show and hope to bump into you tomorrow. And I love all the characters so much, but I can't get enough of Lady Mary and anything that Thomas does! I know he's despicable, but I can't help feeling sorry for him! And he's such a good actor!

  43. Well, I do not watch it so my upper crust person is Sherlock Holmes. Why, he is so very interesting and very strange. I wished I had been watching it because I have heard so many wonderful things about it. Maybe I will catch it if they rerun it. We can hope. Thank you for the giveaway. I can't wait to hear what you won.
