Life after tutorials...

Bound, labeled, de-fuzzed, de-threaded, de-cat haired and ready to be taken for entry to the 35th Annual Sauder Village Quilt Show in Archbold, Ohio (northwest Ohio, west of Toledo) on Saturday morning.  The show runs next Tuesday, April 26 through Sunday, May 1.  Is anyone out there planning to go?!?  It is a fabulous show and definitely worth the drive from anywhere.  And did I mention, there is a great quilt store at Sauder Village??  Here is a link for more info.

I will take some good pictures at the show...of mine and the other 430 quilts that will be on display (where someone else will deal with the hanging of the quilts so that pictures are possible!).

So, with two finishes this week, I am finally allowing myself to dream about a new project or two.  Here's what I've been reading lately:

A little light reading...ha-ha-ha!  I want to do an album quilt, so I am reading everything I can get my hands on about Baltimore Album quilts.  I'm still suffering from withdrawal since finishing the Civil War Bride quilt.  I'm also thinking about Stars and Sprigs.  Hmmmm...

I went on a road trip recently to visit a couple of shops I've never seen before.  I'm usually not too tempted by bag patterns and supplies, but I fell "in love" with these:

These are the most beautiful, hand made leather hand bag handles.  I have a couple of sort of made up bags in mind for these!  I found them at The Hen House in Charlotte, Michigan.  Here's a link to their web site.  They have great primitive, wool, and reproduction fabrics and kits.

I also went to a great quilt store in a funeral home...is that cool, or WHAT?!?    The Marshall House in Marshall, Michigan...great color wall, reproduction fabrics, awesome book room.

All this to distract me from my chocolate bunnies...back to work on those on Saturday!

In stitches,
Teresa  :o)

  2. I am glad there is life after your wonderful tutorials. I was afraid they might have done you in for the forseeable.
Great to think about an Album quilt...! I have got totally hooked on Baltimores, am working on 3 of them. (Am I mad or what?)

  3. Yep, a few of those books are in my arsenal too. I can't wait to see what you come up with. Are you going to do the traditional red & green or do you have something else in mind?

I've been to Marshall, but my sis and I would just hit the big antique mall that once was there. Wish I had known there was a quilt shop too :0)

  7. How exciting. Why is it that the de threading, linting and cat hairing seems to be harder than the quilting itself??? :-)

  8. Oh I'm so excited to see what you are going to do next! I was just commenting on an email today to someone.. one regret I have is that years ago when the military called us to move overseas, I had to leave behind all of my craft things and one thing I remember leaving is a book called Baltimore Sampler Supreme.. I just love the flowers and leaves, but the simple shapes are more my skill level I think. I am sure you can handle anything you decide to do. I hope you take us on your journey with you so I can be the little learner in the corner.

  9. I have been reading your blog for a while but never commented. The first one I read was about your organized basement...I was blown away! :)

The stack of books you are currently reading are wonderful. I was able to see Birds and Roses at Paducah a few years ago during their "Best of Show Quilts" Exhibit. It was my favorite of all the quilts. It was such a beautiful and sweet quilt at the same time. I dream of making something like that someday....I'm still dreaming!

Thanks again for sharing all your wonderful ideas, tutorials, quilts, etc. They are great! I always enjoy your sense of humor and your posts.

  13. I am with you on a Baltimore Album, I have the same stack of books on my coffee table. I have been collecting a few fabrics, I should be inspired by Jane - three at once! Holy Cow girl. I am thinking just buy the background fabric, decide on a block size, and jump in and start doing favorite blocks. Have fun studying up on Baltimore Albums.
